Team Demand encourages runners, walkers (and bikers too) to use their participation in marathons, races and walks to raise money for the Gateway for Cancer Research℠ Race in honor of a loved one – or to honor a friend who may be stricken with the devastating effects of cancer.

When you participate in marathons, races and walks and team up with The Gateway’s Team Demand you’ll have the opportunity to raise money to support innovative cancer research focused on saving lives now. And, help yourself too… There is also strong evidence that physical activity is associated with a reduced risk of certain types of cancers.

The Gateway for Cancer Research℠ is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization committed to funding leading edge cancer research and bold new ideas for lifesaving cancer treatments. We’re demanding cures to improve and save lives of cancer patients now, not decades down the road. Thanks to generous underwriting, 99 cents of every dollar we receive goes directly to fund cancer research.

Playworks Milwaukee
Playworks is a national nonprofit organization that provides safe, healthy and inclusive play and physical activity to schools at recess and throughout the entire school day. We stop the chaos on the playground, shift behavior and accelerate learning.
The 2011-12 school year will be the first year of operations for Playworks in Milwaukee. This year we will deliver our in and out-of-school program in 7 low-income schools across Milwaukee impacting 3,000 kids a day. Our comprehensive program fulfills our mission of improving the health and well being of children by increasing opportunities for physical activity and safe, meaningful play.
All funds raised by Playworks charity athletes will help provide our programming in the Milwaukee Public Schools this fall. To join the Playworks Running Team, please contact Kristina Olkowski, 414.678.1534! • www.playworks.org/milwaukee
